About Me
My first encounter with the pottery wheel was over 20 years ago in Asheville, North Carolina, a mecca of incredible craft and the city where I grew up. Guided by a seasoned teacher and inspired by both the art and the landscape around me, I made cups, plates, bowls, and even a teapot. In the years after, I dabbled in hand building and art classes of various kinds, but didn’t come back to wheel thrown pottery until 2022 here in Portland.
At that point, pottery was an effort to reclaim and recenter (puns for pottery folks!) myself after years of being whisked away by the forces of work and motherhood and COVID lockdowns. Indeed, what I found was a return to a core part of who I am, where I came from, and a passion for clay. Art and craft featured prominently in my childhood and I have a deep appreciation for the things made by our own hands. I am still learning every day, but I love what I do, and I love making things for those who appreciate holding and using something beautiful and carefully crafted.
I’m also a lover of waterways and shorelines of all kinds, trees, plants, and the ecology of this cloud forest we call home. These elements show up in my work, and inspire me beyond my vocation as a potter.
Last but certainly not least, I’m a mom to a phenomenal child, a wife, a daughter, a friend, and a community builder. When I’m not caregiving for my little one, my dog, or my home, I can most often be found in the studio or setting out for a camping trip. Thanks for visiting me here!
